Service Dog Academy

At Maggie's Foundation, we train POTS, Hearing, Mobility, and Psychiatric service dogs. We have a variety of options for our Service Dog Academy.

-Owner Trainers

-Board and Train (if space is available)

-Day Training (during Summer hours)

-Fully Trained Service Dogs

Process

Fill out an interest form and application.
- There is a $10 application fee to weed out issues with bots. However, this $10 will be applied to your first set of training sessions.
Interview
- This is done via ZOOM
Canine Evaluation
- If you have a dog: Canine evaluations are $95 and done in person.
- If you do not have a dog: We will work with you in order to find a dog that works for what you need.
Orientation
- This is an in-person session usually over lunch or dinner to go over plans and sign forms. This includes additional process information, forms and other information.
Health Care Provider
- We will talk with your healthcare provider to determine if a service dog is right for you.
- We will also discuss tasks your healthcare provider believes will benefit you.
Human Classes
- These include recognizing stress, current service dog laws, basic canine behavior, and more.
Dog Training Sessions
- This is broken down into socialization, basic training, task training, and public access training.
Graduation
- This is a celebration that you have finished your program with us.
- Your dog still needs continued support, maintenance and training for their life of work.

Interested in a Fully Trained Service Dog?

MFPT works with a Collie breeder that will allow for fully trained service dogs. These are rarely readily available but they are available by pre-purchasing and signing an agreement. There is no time frame on this service since dogs can wash out, we cannot guarantee when we will have another service dog prospect from their litters not spoken for, or determining how often they choose to breed.
